That goal he scored against Arsenal in the FA quarter final barred past 3 defenders and scored

i agree, at his best you couldn't defend him. probably stimac is the only one who could put him off/wind him up

Hartson at his best was UNPLAYABLE. Never mind this Andy Carroll bullshit. He is not even in the same category. Unfortunately as you say it made sense to get rid when we did, but on his day there was no defender in Europe who would have fancied their chances against him.

I forget in the mist of time how good Hartson was. Financially good business when we got rid but he was ACE

Genuinely unbelievable game, one of those where you think 'this can't possibly be happening, it would be too perfect' and then it does anyway. Wasn't there a story that Redknapp told the team at half time that everyone else was leading and so we simply had to win, even though it wasn't true?

Hartson and Kitson absolutely bullied them and looked as if we had unearthed a secret weapon or two, and Dicks - as great as he was on many other occasions - put in a once in a lifetime performance, particularly towards the end. I have never before or since seen ANY player be first to every single header, or even ball on the ground, time and time again with such relentless repetition. He was simply 'thou shall not pass' at that point - and that is not even factoring in the penalty. Was it that one or the Man Utd one that was featured in the advert with the blind fan? Either way, both are worthy of endless praise.

I seem to recall hearing that on Sky Dicks got something like 90% of the Man Of The Match vote that game and by God it was deserved. When people take the piss out of him for his role under Bilic that is one of the performances I wish I could ram down their throats - that chap sweated blood for us, what have you ever done?

I remember listening to the car radio as I was heading home after the match. The presenter, I can’t remember his name, was moaning and saying that Spurs had only lost because of the windy conditions. He kept emphasising ‘Tottenham 3, WIND, FOUR!’

Think I'm right in saying David Howells had lost his old man the day of the game and still played.

Remember him scoring and not celebrating.

Football wise, front row above the Spurs fans - absolutely loved that seat. Got the atmosphere from the home and away fans, was excellent.

That and the one against Man United are the two Dicks penalties that stick in my mind - Looking at the bobby moore stand lower - everyone singing 'Julian , Julian , Julian!' and the clapping in tandem.

Great nights, sorely missed.

Eerie,
You would have been in the South Bank, not the North Bank, if you was right next to their fans

very windy night that, seem to remember one of their goals was going wide until the wind got it.
Hartson was a beast wasn't he?

after that Everton game we battered Sheff Weds and Hartson was killing them.

Was a ST holder working in the city. Had a call booked for 4.45pm with a client which didn't happen until 5.10pm.. It should have been a 30 minute call maximum - it got to 5.55pm and I wanted to leave to grab some grub and a beer pre-match - no way was I missing this one.

...I cut him off and emailed him just as I left saying "phone lines went down will arrange the call next day"

Got in next day and had email saying "no problem"

Fuck missing that game for a call, it was only about a £1.2m portfolio anyway!

I think Dicks did that to Dowie- taking a penalty when he could have got a hat trick. I bet Dowie was fuming as would have been the closest he ever got to getting one!

Pretty sure Dicks refused to let Matthew Rush take a penalty even though he already had two and we were winning comfortably against Norwich.
